KSR Service Update

18 April 2007

Media Release

Wednesday, 18 April, 2007

Dear Industry Partner,

Despite rumours to the contrary all is ‘on track’ for a 1st May recommencement of the 8.30am/8.55am service ex Cairns/Freshwater and the 3.30pm service ex Kuranda. It has been a long and tough time for us all and I thank you for your support and understanding.

The last day of operation for the Kuranda to Barron Falls excursion will be Sunday, 29th April with no KSR services on 30th April. This is due to the need to move and service our large carriages for the 1st May start. Again I thank you for your support of these short excursion journeys.

Finally, unless something very dramatic occurs, we will be back to normal with our regular twice daily services in the very first days of July. We will advise the exact day as soon as we have a little more information.

The establishment of a long-term protective barrier in the effected area is QR’s objective to avoid future problems like the one we are now experiencing. We are fully aware the serious effects to your businesses which are not dissimilar to ours.

Here’s to getting back to normal!

Yours sincerely,

Gary Young
