Kuranda Scenic Railway

The Kuranda Scenic Rail has a rich and colourful history. While today it is recognised and enjoyed by thousands of visitors from around the world each year - it was initiated as the Cairns - Kuranda Railway to link the Tablelands and its mining industry with the port of Cairns. In 1891 the railway line was opened. 1915 marked the opening of the Kuranda Station as it is today. Today the Kuranda Scenic Railway is a world class tourist attraction which operates two return services between Cairns and Kuranda daily. It is operated by NQ Traveltrain.
